Birth and Early Life:
Woodrow Wilson Finley was born on January 23, 1916, and was raised in Tennessee. He was living in Selmer at the time of his enlistment.

Enlistment and Boot Camp:
Finley joined the Marines on October 10, 1940. He completed boot camp at MCRD San Diego, and was selected for Sea School that December.

Wartime Service:
After completing Sea School, Private Finley was assigned to the Marine detachment of the USS Arizona. He served aboard the battleship for the entirety of 1941, during which time he was promoted to Private First Class.

Date Of Loss:
PFC Finley was killed on December 7, 1941, when the Arizona was sunk at Pearl Harbor.

Parents, Mr & Mrs James Finley

Status Of Remains:
Lost at sea.

Memorial:
Tablets of the Missing, National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
USS Arizona Memorial.
Oak Hill Cemetery, Selmer, Tennessee.

    A section of State Highway 224 beginning 3/4 mile from U.S. Highway 64 proceeding North and ending 1/2 mile from State Highway 199 is designated the
    “Woodrow W. Finley Memorial Highway”.
