A Big Test for the DPAA: The USS Oklahoma Unknowns

This morning, the Pentagon announced plans to exhume 388 unidentified American servicemen buried in mass graves at Hawaii’s Punchbowl cemetery. These sailors and Marines lost their lives on December 7, 1941, in the sinking of the USS Oklahoma.

The notification of families has reportedly begun, and the entire effort is anticipated to take five years to complete.
