Circumstances Of Loss

PFC Thomas Parsons, a pre-war China Marine, participated in the defense of the Philippine Islands and the siege of Corregidor as a member of Company A, 4th Marines. He was stationed in a defensive position near Monkey Point on “Tailside” for much of the campaign.

On the night of 5 May 1942, Japanese forces landed on the island not far from Monkey Point. The garrison put up a stubborn fight, but was overwhelmed and surrendered at 1200 hours the following day. PFC Parsons was among those killed in the attack; no specifics of his fate are known.
