First Lieutenant Milton E. Peck was a pilot assigned to VMF-213, a Marine fighter squadron based at Guadalcanal in the summer of 1943. He was a skilled flyer with one Zero to his credit.

Lieutenant Peck died in an aviation mishap on 30 June 1943. He was taking off for a routine test flight in F4U-1 #02598 when the engine failed. Peck brought the Corsair down for a water landing off Koli Point, where it floated for several minutes. The pilot was evidently injured or trapped in the cockpit, for he never emerged before the plane sank.
